Cody, that is.
Cody dated my high school BFF. He and Ernest were High School BFF’s. Do you see how we ended up together? One night while I was sleeping over with my BFF she called her boyfriend Cody to come and “take care” of some guys who were bothering her. (there is another story to this but it is way too long!) Ernest was sleeping over at Cody’s and so he came along. Back in the day Ernest loved to fight. He really didn’t care why or who as long as he won. They came over to “protect” us and this marked the beginning of our courtship. I won him over that night. I was not trying.
Picture four rather tall guys and one very short girl standing in the dark front yard of a neighborhood. If my memory serves me right it was between 1 and 2 am. The short girl was of course me. I was completely against violence and getting into trouble so I stood there trying to convince these four not to fight. They weren’t getting past me! HA. I will never forget Ernest looking deep into my eyes telling me to SHUT UP and MOVE. He was not kidding, he was so mad! I did not back down. I remember telling them how stupid I thought they were and how fighting was, well, not GOOD. That was my argument and I stuck to it.
Oddly enough my continual ranting worked and no punches were thrown. Cody and Ernest still swear that the other guys (who they claim were 3 instead of 2) left out of pure fear. After a long crazy mess E and C came in and hung out with us girls. Truly, Cody and my high school BFF hung out which left me and Ernest to hang out. I was watching Girls Just Wanna Have Fun (my favorite all time movie) and sitting on the opposite side of the couch. Flirting ramblings were thrown back and forth and I guess you can say that was history.
That night I endlessly wanted McD’s french fries. I couldn’t talk of much more. The next time I saw Ernest he was carrying a bag with the prize of fresh fries just for me.He spoke my love language. As Cody and Ernest were walking back to their car, Ernest made the statement that he would like to date me. Why? Because I was spunky. I love that. Oh, if he only knew then what he knows now.
Tomorrow Ernest will perform the wedding of his high school BFF Cody to his love Hannah. The circle of time is crazy. I sat back during the rehearsal and spoke with Cody’s mom. We laughed over the sight that stood before us. Two men grown and mature yet in some ways still the boys that we knew way back when.
Time. It is a crazy thing.
Happy Birthday Ernest. I love you. Forever and Always.

The girl who made me a mommy is now 10. Today we celebrate her genuine love of life. She is one who truly lives life out loud. This year instead of gifts she has decided to run a baby formula drive for Haiti. She has named it Formula For Haiti. Her vision is to have 5 trucks full of powdered formula to send off to babies. She has recruited lots of help from family and friends. I am excited to see how far this goes. The plan is to carry them with me in May but who knows maybe we will have too much and we will have to find alternate shipping methods. The sky is the limit.
Last night we sat across from each other in deep conversation as this interview (below) was taking place. I enjoyed every second. I decided to record her thoughts so that years from now she can look back and remember who she was at 10. You can read in some of her answers that she is basically saying “duh, mom..” and others her words were so deep that I sat in awe of her. Who is this little one? I recorded her answers exactly as she said them.
Enjoy!

i love this vintage look. (i am learning how to use actions in photoshop CS3.)
enjoy the pics from our holiday…

the girl loves her daddy. that is just what we did over the weekend…we loved on one another.

this was thanksgiving morning at the the H.E.B. Thanksgiving Parade downtown. we bundled ourselves up and went to see what all the hype was about. it was a lot of fun (especially the free starbucks mint hot chocolate). we are falling in love with downtown.

my little man and his mean look. the other thing we did while on holiday was relax. it was good. watching a movie snuggled with the fam stands for an awesome night.
I was also one of the crazies out shopping at 5 am. I bought a few $3 movies but nothing else. I go for the fun with the girls. We shopped until 5 pm that day and ended the fun with dinner and laughs.
How was your holiday?

Haiti here I come. I have signed up to venture off on a mission trip to Haiti. I have never been there but somehow my heart yearns for this place and the people there. I will be going with a team through Children’s Lifeline we will be headed up by Jamie. I am so excited about this trip.
A few of you have asked me to set up a paypal account for you to assist in my travel… so I did. You can donate by pressing the button. Please do not feel obligated! I am sure we will be able to take some stuff with us for the rescue center or the mission so you may want to save your money for that.
Did I mention that we will be working with the Livesay’s while there? Could this get any better?
Please pray for me as I prepare for this trip. God only knows what he has in store for me in Haiti. I am eager to take the journey with him.
**Updated**
After an hour of trying I cannot get the cute little button to fix so you can just click on this ugly link…
thanks.

Go over and show my friend and her new blog some love. She is on a detox (from sugar and carbs) diet so she could use an extra boost.
