adoption

We have come to a conclusion that with the knowledge of the need more people would adopt. So let’s combine our creativity and think up some ways to share our voice.

You may want to read the last post and the comments to get up to speed.

I am so eager to hear your thoughts.

One idea was to set up a You Tube show. Maybe an ongoing show of sorts…?

Did anyone watch the view this morning?

Congressman Ron Paul was on the show for some publicity.  He is running for President.  The hot topic of that segment was abortion.  He is not for abortion which stirred up some real drama.

The adoption vs. abortion topic came up.  Needless to say my ears perked up.
There was a striking statement said “The churches don’t want to take them.”  “Them” being the children who are not aborted.  Basically stating that the church doesn’t want them to be aborted but at the same turn does not want to care for these babies.  Is this true?

If we are out talking about sacred life and urging women to not abort their babies what are we doing to help them.  That statement affected me.

I have a lot of thoughts on this but I am desiring to know some of yours.

The places, the people, the smiles, the tears, the books, the heart…

I am sitting here on a Sunday afternoon completely full of praise and a touch of understanding.  I am being allowed at the present time to “see” much.  My heart is being emptied out for the single purpose of being refilled with a new love.   One that is deeper, stronger, softer, and more in tune with He that is love.

Everything I know is being sifted to see the trueness of loving God and loving people.  I have been opened to the love for those who are homeless.  My heart aches for the kids living on the street.  What am I doing as a lover of Jesus to minister to them?  Not one thing.  Truth is I have seen what I’ve seen and cannot pretend like I haven’t.  A longing is there…time for action.

My love for Haiti pounds deep within.  DAILY.  The four of us sit and talk about Haiti.  Our 8 year old talks of living there and having a open center to feed all of his friends.  Our hearts are being made open.  We see the pictures on this blog and dream of the day when we can adopt (hopefully soon).  Our children are very partial to Ronel a 7 year old child at the rescue center.  I am going on a missions trip to Haiti in the coming year.  I have no idea how I will fund it but I have it set in my heart to go.

I see teenagers and college students who desire to love God but seriously have no clue how to do it.  We have not taught them what relationship looks like.  They live under a set of rules then become broken hearted because their life lacks excitement.  Because I have seen this, even experienced it, I cannot sit back and let it continue.  I have to stand in the gap.  I have seen what I’ve seen.

I have seen and know of people who are daring enough to follow Jesus.  My eyes are being opened to the radical world out there.  I have seen it now I want to be a part of it.  How could I not?  Once you see it-you want it.

Watch this video from Sara Groves.  It explains exactly the emotion of my heart.  Pay close attention to the joy on her face.  We are never more like God than when we are loving others.

I have seen what I’ve seen…

I am forever changed because of it…

We made tamales. I can hardly believe it. My mom and some of her friends got together to help me make tamales today. It was an adventure and there was laughter throughout the day. I must tell the truth and share that in fact there were even some tears. The tears happened when I feared the burn of the tamale…scary!

Our reason for this adventure was to raise some good ole’ green. Our friends are adopting and we wanted to help. At our present situation we cannot do a whole lot so we decided to do some fundraising. I printed pictures of Amos Dowensky and showed them off to all the “tamale ladies” that passed through the house today. Of course, they were all taken by his cuteness.

We made 38 dozen tamales. 20 were already sold in advanced orders. The other 18 went quick within minutes of them being cooked. All the children were out selling them to the neighbors. This world is a funny place.

Some interesting tamaleness.

1. When purchasing the goods you must visit stores that seem a little scary. When buying the masa I saw a man carrying a skinned goat or deer on his back. In truth, it was called a meat market, but really?

2. It involves lots of trips to the store for things that you completely thought you had enough of, but didn’t.

3. It means random ladies coming up to you in the meat aisle offering their advice on what meat to purchase.

4. It is all about the pork butt that we bought. I am serious. The tag on the meat was called PORK BUTT. I had never seen such a thing. It was even cut into two nice plump pieces. I laughed so hard that I got my mom laughing. I cannot count how many times I said pork butt today.

5. I bought lard people. LARD. I did not think I would see the day.

6. At the end of the day there is no desire to eat a tamale. I purchased a dozen beef tamales. You can find them sitting on the counter ready for someone to enjoy them. Maybe tomorrow.

7. It is fun. I loved talking with my mom and my niece. My niece is so talented because she was talking, making tamales, and listening to her ipod all at the same time. I love her.

If you are interested here are some pictures from our tamale day. Enjoy! (my mom is in the pink)
