What is it about a great pair of heels?
I love the way they look. Being 5′2 I need all the help I can get in the height department. In my mind heels are a symbol of womanhood. They are upmost girl. And, am I wrong for the notion that they can be slimming.
Why do they hurt so terribly? I have two pair of heels. Only two because of the pain that they cause my feet.
Here is my question to all heel wearers. Does the pain go away? Do you all of a sudden get use to wearing them and now you find them wearable? If this is the case please let me know. I want to be a seasoned heel wearer but I need to know that there is beauty after the pain.
I have heard that you need to purchase them a size bigger to be comfortable. Is there any truth to this?
So that was my question, now it is your turn.

I used to love wearing heels… never really had to get used to it, just did it. I have arthritis in my feet now, though, and if I wear the HIGH ones (yes… I have some six inch sandals which hubby used to call “fishin’ shoes”), my feet ache miserably. I’ve found that lately if I wear even my basic heels (without all that height), my toes start to cramp after half a day in them. I’m sad. I miss my heels!
I would think buying a size too large would cause blisters… but I don’t know.
What kind of heels do you like?

I have no idea. The cute ones with a heel???

I had some high heel boots that were Cloud 9 brand, which was under the Nine West brand and was supposed to be more comfy. (Doesn’t exist now.) I was able to get used to them and walk without pain even until I was 8 months pregnant. However, my newer boots are beautiful but they are made by Satan. I cannot get used to them and I think I would permanently damage my feet if I wore them too much. So I guess it depends on the shoe. I agree that a heel is slimming. PTL! I wouldn’t go a whole size bigger, but maybe a half size? A size up might make you trip. If it’s a pointy toe then you might have to go up. Hope that helps!

hey girl! I am 5′2″ so I need all the help I can get. With working in retail I can tell you the pain does not stop. I have to bring a backup pair of shoes when I wear my heels just in case!

I have this very same question and problem! I LOVE the look of heels, but HATE the pain. Someone told me you have to buy a more expensive pair to find ones that are comforable (meaning not the Payless ones I have bought in the past). Well…I found some Steve Maddan ones on sale and was so excited to try them. I wore the black pair to a wedding last weekend and was in SO much pain by the end. Maybe it is because they are a pointer toe. I am sure hoping the white ones aren’t as painful. *cringe*

LOL… I guess I was thinking along the lines of color, sandals or closed toe, basic or something a little more extravagant, that type of stuff.

Jenny, we are the same height. Yea for us.
Jen, I have heard that too. I have a fairly expensive pair and they hurt often. I think my foot has grown since then so maybe that could be the problem.
bellissimanh, I have an attraction for the pointy toed ones and let’s just throw in keyhole front.
Amanda, thanks for the great advice. I expected you to be a seasoned heel wearer.
